Top tips for getting the most out of your blonde hair between appointments
Going blonde can be a big commitment whether it’s having to upkeep roots to just general regular touch ups! Saying that it can be well worth it and it can be the ultimate colour transformation!
Here at The Hair and Beauty Chalet we decided to compile a few top tips that should keep your blonde hair looking fresh and gorgeous between salon appointments!
1. Reducing the number of washes
It may seem like common sense but the more you wash your hair the quicker the colour will fade unfortunately! This is something you will have to be strategic about, plan your hair washing days and have a dry shampoo on stand by for the other days. We love the Kitoko Dry shampoo, it’s so light & fresh in your hair & doesn't leave that powdery residue that we all hate. A little tip is on the day you wash your hair when you have finished styling it spray in your dry shampoo at the roots to help it last for longer. Simple!
2. Rinse hair with cold water
We don’t expect you to freeze in a cold shower, but we do advise rinsing your hair in cool water every so often! Cold water closes the hair cuticles and therefore prevents unnecessary fading!
3. Use the right Shampoo and conditioner
Coloured hair requires the use of colour safe shampoo and conditioner. Products that aren’t colour safe will simply wash your colour away. Come into the salon to find out what is the best shampoo & conditioner for your hair or if you don’t have time simply pop us an email or message describing your hair & we’ll help you out.
4. Fight the Brassiness
A dreaded factor with blonde hair is the brassiness that may appear if your don’t take precautions. The use of a purple shampoo acts as a toner and reduces the brassy appearance. It should be used by alternating it with your regular shampoo. We have a fantastic value set in the salon Affinage Mode Cool Blonde shampoo, conditioner & a free illuminator for only €28
If all else fails pop into the salon for a toner between appointments. It is quick and inexpensive and will keep your hair looking blonder for longer!
We hope all these tips help you decide if your thinking of changing your colour.
